Saving Energy: A Smart Business Strategy

Whenever you save energy within your business you are also saving money. Electricity costs, especially lighting which is 75% of all energy upgrades by small businesses, contribute to your business’s financial bottom line. An investment in energy saving projects can often result in significant energy savings that will reduce your expenses.

Whether or not you’re into environmentalism, saving energy is a smart business strategy.

Cape’s Energy & LED specialists can help you cut those costs by being more energy-efficient. You’ll see the benefit immediately on your bottom line.

Before and After

LED Advantages

Looking for ways to reduce energy costs?

Since lighting makes up a large portion of your utility bill, upgrading outdated HID and fluorescent systems to LEDs, which use less energy while improving the quality of light, is becoming the norm.

Lighting is often “low-hanging fruit” to capture cost and maintenance savings, and is a key focus for professionals who design and maintain buildings.

LEDs produce more uniform light distribution with none of the troublesome shadows created with HID and fluorescents as they depreciate. LEDs also have a higher Color Rendering Index than traditional light sources, which improves accuracy in perception of color and detail. For commercial and industrial facilities this often translates into benefits for merchandising and inspection. Better quality lighting improves visibility and is proven to improve worker morale, task performance and productivity.

Controllable Systems & The Future of Lighting

LED sources are inherently dimmable and controllable, and can be readily integrated with sensors and control systems, enabling further energy savings through the use of occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting, and local light level control. Lighting systems can also be tied into Building Management, security and Space Optimization systems, and a variety of other secure internet platforms. This all adds up to the potential to improve performance and value of lighting in totally new ways.

Improved Lamp Life & Lumen Maintenance

LEDs have no catastrophic failure at end of life, and lose very little of their initial light output throughout their rated life. LEDs can be rated to operate at 70% of their initial lumen output at 100,000 hours or greater, which can more than double the useful life of your lighting system. Common HID light levels will depreciate more than 50% over their rated life, and even the best fluorescent systems will need to be relamped.

Incentives & Rebates – Offset Upfront Costs

A variety of rebates, tax advantages and other incentives are available to help finance the costs associated with LED lighting upgrades. Special lending programs are also available, which can generate positive cashflow on day one by using energy savings to pay for improvements.

Cape is a trained partner with many incentive programs, and our Lighting Specialists are ready to help with your facility’s specific needs. This includes a no-cost energy audit to provide an ROI analysis with energy savings and all incentives that may apply to your project. We can also provide layouts to show projected light levels and recommended solutions.

Efficiency

Less wattage, Less energy, Less money spent

Sounds simple, right?

But there’s more to the promise of high bay LED lighting. Dig a little deeper and know what to look for and you gain far better outcomes from your investment. Example the LPW, or lumens per watt, plus the combination of CRI and CCT, or color-rendering index and correlated color temperature, to reap the biggest savings plus the optimal color quality that supports safety and productivity, also important cost factors.
